Martina Lajczak’s work is primarily characterized by the combination and juxtaposition of different photographic techniques, ranging from analog photography to lens-based and generative processes, achieving a certain kind of abstraction and opacity and thus enabling her to create new forms of storytelling. Themes that recur in her work are mainly of emancipatory nature, such as questions of identity, migration, labor and discrimination.
Her visual language in terms of commercial photography lies somewhere between the first Pavement album, “Clueless” and the last season of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”.
